• Methodology Primer for the Foodborne Illness Risk Ranking Model
  This primer provides information on the approach the model team used to design and develop the model.
• Constructing the Analytical Tools for a Systems and Risk-Based Approach to Food Safety.
  This paper, written as part of the FSRC project Prioritizing Opportunities to Reduce Foodborne Risk, provides initial thinking on a conceptual framework for an integrated, systems approach to food safety to reduce risk that will be refined over the life of the project through input of stakeholders and experts in workshops and conferences. 
• Food Safety Updated: Developing Tools for a More Science- and Risk-Based Approach
  Co-published with the Milbank Memorial Fund, this report describes decision tools to inform policy for reducing the burden of foodborne illness.

FSRC Discussion Paper Series (Updated 12/2005)
This new discussion paper series is an outlet for work from completed FSRC projects and new ideas that stem from these projects.

• FSRC Discussion Paper 01 -- Identifying the Most Significant Microbiological Foodborne Hazards to Public Health: A New Risk Ranking Model
  This paper provides information on the materials and methods of FIRRM (Foodborne Illness Risk Ranking Model) and discusses the preliminary results from the model.  This paper is the first of a new discussion paper series by the FSRC.
• FSRC Discussion Paper 02 -- Linking Illness to Foods: Summary of a Workshop on Food Attribution
  This paper summarizes the discussion from an FSRC workshop held to explore “food attribution” approaches and data are utilized around the world.
• FSRC Discussion Paper 03 Prioritizing Opportunities to Reduce the Burden of Foodborne Risk: A Conceptual Framework
  This is the final report from a project to develop a conceptual framework for food safety priority setting. The framework is composed of four analytical elements - risk ranking, intervention assessment, health impact estimation, and combined evaluation - employed to guide resource allocation decisions and risk management strategies.

Journal Articles (Updated 7/2005)

• Attributing Illness to Food
  The Food Safety Research Consortium sponsored the Food Attribution Data Workshop in October 2003 to discuss food attribution approaches and to identify future options for collecting food attribution data in the United States. Workshop discussions are summarized in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases and identify challenges that affect progress in this critical component of a risk-based approach to improving food safety.
